Hi, I'm Alessandro Placitelli!
I was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, and ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with figuring out how things work. I loved computers, video games, gadgets, and basically any piece of technology I could mess around with. I was also naturally good at math and physics, so engineering eventually felt like the obvious direction for me.
When I was 17, I moved to the United States to chase that dream. I ended up studying Electrical Engineering at Penn State, where I started building my first serious projects outside of class. That included automated systems, fingerprint safes, weird mechanical devices, and even a smartwatch made completely from scratch. Those early projects made me realize that engineering wasn’t just something I wanted to study. It was the thing I genuinely loved doing.
While I was in college, I started posting my projects online just for fun. I had no audience, no strategy, and honestly no clue where any of it was going. I just liked building things and showing people what I made. Eventually, that hobby turned into PLACITECH. By the time I graduated, I had completed dozens of projects and knew I wanted to keep doing this somehow.
After college, I experimented with shorter and funnier electronics project videos, which helped PLACITECH grow and reach millions of people. But after a while, I realized the part I cared about most had never really changed: coming up with an awesome idea, having no clue how to build it, and then stubbornly figuring it out anyway.
Today, PLACITECH is where engineering, creativity, and entertainment all collide. Whether I’m building a beer pong robot, a retro-futuristic console, or some completely unnecessary machine that solves a very specific problem, it always starts the same way: curiosity. And somehow, that curiosity has taken me from messing around with gadgets as a kid to building a life around turning strange ideas into real things.
